Let’s start with the basics, even though I’m sure you’re past this, it’s always good to be on the same page.

Your money mindset is the unique set of beliefs and attitudes you hold about money. It's the invisible filter through which you view your finances, money, wealth, and abundance. It’s the invisible filter through which you “understand” your abilities to make money, have money, hold money.

It’s the invisible filter through which you not only view your relationship with money, but the way you FEEL about money.

And guess what? This mindset has been shaping your financial reality all along, whether you're aware of it or not.

Think of your money mindset as the operating system running in the background of your financial life. If it’s filled with bugs (a.k.a. limiting beliefs like “I’m not good with money” or “I’ll never be rich” or “There’s never enough”), it’s going to keep causing problems—no matter how many updates you try to install. But here’s the good news: just like you can upgrade your phone’s software, you can upgrade your money mindset.

And when you do, you’ll notice things starting to shift in a big way. Financial opportunities suddenly appear, abundance starts flowing, and you begin to feel more empowered in your financial decisions.

Why Money Mindset Matters


If you’re an entrepreneur who’s been hustling hard—following all the expert advice, budgeting, saving, investing, continuously showing up on social media —but still aren’t seeing the financial breakthroughs you expected, your money mindset could be the missing piece of the puzzle. Common Money Blocks (And How to Bust Through Them)

Before we jump into some specific game-changing tools for shifting your money mindset, it’s crucial to address the most common money blocks that could be sabotaging your financial success. These blocks are like invisible barriers that keep you stuck in a cycle of scarcity, fear, and self-doubt. But don’t worry—once you recognize these blocks, you can start clearing them out of your way and make room for abundance to flow into your life. Let’s dive into the most prevalent money blocks that might be holding you back.

1. Scarcity Mindset: There’s Never Enough

The scarcity mindset is one of the most pervasive money blocks out there, and it’s a sneaky one. This block is rooted in the belief that there’s never enough—never enough money, opportunities, clients, or resources. When you operate from a place of lack, you’re constantly focused on what you don’t have, which only attracts more of the same.

For example, you might find yourself thinking, “I can’t afford that,” or “There’s no way I’ll ever make enough money.” These thoughts send a signal to your subconscious mind (and the universe) that you’re 1) you’re not grateful for all that you already have (pssst… gratitude is one of the most POWERFUL money magnetism amplifiers out there), you don’t trust money and that you have the belief that you actually WON’T make more. And guess what? You end up pushing abundance away without even realizing it.


How to Bust Through It: Start by shifting your focus from lack to abundance. Practice gratitude daily by acknowledging the wealth and resources you already have, no matter how small. Affirmations like “I am open to see and recognize all the abundance already in my life and on it’s way to me” can also help reprogram your mind to see opportunities instead of limitations.

2. Fear of Success: What If I Can’t Handle It?

Believe it or not, fear of success is a real thing  and it’s actually one of the most common Armors of Smallness aka the beliefs that keep you playing SMALL). Many people subconsciously fear what success might bring—whether it’s the pressure to maintain that success, the fear of outgrowing friends and family, increased visibility as your business expands, or the responsibility that comes with financial abundance and/or more clients. These fears can keep you stuck in a comfortable but unfulfilling financial situation.

You might catch yourself thinking, “What if I make a lot of money and lose it all?” or “Will people still like me if I become wealthy?” You might see other “Big” influencers or entrepreneurs in your industry have “bad” things happen to them due to how big they’ve gotten (aka haters, or people talking badly about them or not liking them for one reason or another). These fears create resistance and can prevent you from taking the necessary steps to achieve financial success.


How to Bust Through It: Start by acknowledging that it’s okay to succeed and that you deserve it. Visualize what your life will look like when you’re successful and focus on the positive aspects of that reality. Surround yourself with supportive people who encourage your growth and especially mentors who have created the type of success you desire in the WAY you want to create it (for example: if you are a mom and have the desire to create a deeply intentional environment in your family and want to design a lucrative business AROUND that, then you probably don’t want to follow the single entrepreneur who hustles day and night and their business is their entire life).

3. Guilt Around Money: Is It Wrong to Want More?

Guilt is another common money block, especially if you’ve been taught that having more money than others is somehow wrong or greedy. This belief often stems from cultural or familial conditioning and can lead to self-sabotage. You might feel like you don’t deserve to be wealthy, or that wanting more money is selfish.

I once who had a client who grew up with a mother who was very vocal about “hating” rich people. I told her: “Then you better not be rich!!” It was such a big shift in her understanding and how that guilt and fear was holding her back from making more because she was worried her mother would not accept her anymore. This is VERY common in families.

This guilt can manifest as undercharging for your services, giving away too much for free, or feeling uncomfortable when discussing money. The result? You repel money rather than attract it.


How to Bust Through It: Recognize that money is simply a tool—it’s neutral. Wanting more money doesn’t make you a bad person; it allows you to create more impact, provide for your loved ones, and live a life of freedom. Start reframing your beliefs about money by affirming, “It is safe for me to be wealthy, and I use my wealth to do good in the world.”

We will dive deeper into the role of breathwork in your money mindset, but essentially feeling SAFE to make more money (especially in your body) is one of the pieces that is most missed in money mindset work. This is work that needs to happen in your body and not just your mind. We do this inside Money Magnet.

4. Unworthiness: Do I Really Deserve Wealth?


Unworthiness is a deeply rooted money block that can be challenging to overcome as it often extends past just money. If you don’t believe you deserve wealth, you’ll find ways to sabotage your financial success, whether consciously or unconsciously. This block often stems from low self-esteem, past [money] traumas, or negative conditioning around money.

You might notice thoughts like, “Who am I to make that kind of money?” or “I’m not smart enough/good enough to be wealthy.” These beliefs keep you playing small and prevent you from stepping into your full potential.

How to Bust Through It: The first step is to recognize your inherent worthiness. You are deserving of wealth simply because you exist. Start affirming your worth with statements like, “I am worthy of all the wealth and abundance life has to offer.” Additionally, journaling can be a powerful tool to explore and release feelings of unworthiness. 5. Fear of Judgement: What Will Others Think?


Fear of judgment is another sneaky money block that can hold you back from achieving financial success. This block is rooted in the worry about what others will think if you start making more money (remember my previous client with the mom who hated rich people?), charging higher prices, or living a more abundant life. You might fear that others will judge you as greedy, materialistic, or even arrogant.

This fear can cause you to downplay your achievements, maybe not even get visible because you have certain people on your email list or following you on Instagram, undercharge for your services, or avoid putting your services out there at all. You might not say what you actually want to say. You might not sell with conviction. You might not own who you are because you are in fear of being judged. 

And being judged is hurtful.

So you’ll avoid it. 

But here’s the truth: other people’s opinions don’t pay your bills.

How to Bust Through It: Remember that you’re not responsible for how others perceive you—your only responsibility is to live your truth. Start by affirming, “I am confident in my financial success, and I release the need for external validation.” Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who support your growth and success (this is REALLY important - in order for you to own your bigness and get LOUD, you need to make sure you have a crew surrounding you who are going to see and acknowledge your light and cheer you on!). This story is the narrative that you’ve been unconsciously telling yourself about money—what’s possible, what’s not, and what you deserve.


Rewriting Your Money Story: Shifting into Abundance

Once you’ve identified your current money story, it’s time to write a new one—one that aligns with your goals, dreams, and the financial reality you want to create. This isn’t just about positive thinking; it’s about consciously choosing to shift your energy and beliefs toward abundance.

Imagine your dream financial reality. How much money are you making? How does it feel to be financially secure and abundant? What kind of life are you living with this newfound wealth? Start journaling as if this reality is already yours. Write in the present tense, describing your life with as much detail and emotion as possible.

For example:

Old Story: “Money is always a struggle, and I never have enough."

New Story: “Money flows to me easily and effortlessly. I am financially secure, and I live a life of abundance and freedom.”

This technique helps to rewire your brain, shifting your energy toward that new, abundant version of you. The more you practice, the more natural this new story will feel, and the more it will begin to manifest in your life.


The Limitations of Journaling: Why It’s Just the Beginning

While journaling is a fantastic tool for increasing awareness and starting the process of transformation, it’s important to acknowledge its limitations. Journaling prompts can take you deep, but they only reach the conscious mind. They help you become aware of the programs running in the background, but they don’t necessarily reach the deeper subconscious beliefs that live in the body.

This is why journaling is often just the beginning of the journey (it was for me!). It’s a powerful way to get started, to dig deeper into your thoughts and beliefs, and to gain insight into what needs to shift. And honestly, it’s pretty easy to get started.

However, to create lasting change, you’ll need to pair journaling with other practices that work on a deeper level, like breathwork or somatic healing, which address the body’s role in holding onto money beliefs.

That said, the insights you gain from journaling are invaluable. It’s an incredible place to start. They lay the groundwork for deeper work and help you clarify what you’re working with and what you’re working toward and give you a direction.

Your environment plays a huge role in shaping your mindset. Surround yourself with reminders of abundance—whether it’s images, quotes, or even people who inspire you to think bigger. Create a space that reflects the wealth and success you’re calling into your life. 

This might mean decluttering your home or office, creating a vision board filled with images of your financial goals, or even changing the way you talk about money with friends and family. When you immerse yourself in an environment that supports abundance, it becomes easier to maintain an abundant mindset. 

Ask yourself this: What makes you feel abundant? What makes me feel wealthy? Surround yourself with it and see how it effects how you show up. 

3. Invest in Your Mindset

The best investment you can make is in your own growth. Whether it’s enrolling in a course, reading a transformative book, or working with a mentor, commit to continually expanding your money mindset. The more you learn and grow, the more empowered you’ll feel to take control of your financial destiny.

Part of shifting your money mindset is letting go of old beliefs, habits, and even relationships that aren’t aligned with your new, abundant self.
